One afternoon I happened to look out my bedroom window and saw my son and his son in the canoe. Not only did it strike me as an opportunity to photograph a memory for both of them, the scene through my window was touching.
Senior Moments
Just a play on words. These Senior moments that I captured are a set of twins who just graduated from high school and they wanted their Senior photos to express who they were. These two have been close ever since they entered the world, hardly separated for anything or by anyone. Their love for one another is displayed in some of their photos.
The Nelson Atkins Museum at Night
This was a wonderful place to photograph because of the combination of photogenic elements: Evening sky, water for reflections, perfect lights, and beautiful architecture! I was truly inspired and excited for this challenge.
A Car
After photographing at my favorite park, uploading the photographs, and doing some editing, I realized that one of the photographs reminded me of a car advertisement.
Roses
One of my favorite objects in nature to photograph are flowers. I appreciate all types and colors, but my very favorite is probably the red rose. It’s probably my favorite because it usually stands for love AND red is my favorite color! These particular roses were a Valentine’s gift from my boyfriend.
Park University Celebrates
One of our local universities celebrates various occasions by displaying colorful lights on its main building. This particular color scheme was in honor of the Kansas City Chiefs football team going to the Super Bowl. It was unique and needed to be photographed!
Last Post For The Year
As you can see, I had to end the year with more Christmas photos. (Did I mention earlier how much I love Christmas time?) Make sure when you photograph your Christmas tree with its twinkling lights, you keep the flash OFF. It’s tempting to use flash since the room with the Christmas tree might be dimly lit, but if you use the flash you will over power those little lights on your tree.
I Love the Christmas Season!
Night photography is fun to do, but using a tripod is necessary for the longer exposures that it takes to capture the evening lights. Photographing the reflections is also a must if you’re near a body of water…..even if it’s just a pond. You will need to experiment around to see how long the shutter should stay open to capture the beauty of the lights. It might take just 15 seconds or maybe 30 seconds depending on how dark it is outside. Needless to say, there are other factors to consider when photographing night scenes.
Fall 2019
With Fall being my favorite season, naturally, you’ll find me trying to capture its beauty!
A Glass
Every once in awhile an object strikes me as a photographic opportunity. This photo is one of those.
Can't Get Enough Colorado
No words needed. Photos say it all…..well, almost.
Remember Prom?
In some ways, Prom is much a do about nothing important and yet, who doesn’t like getting dressed up for Prom? For most attendees it’s a fun event that produces a hole in the wallet but, memories for years.
English Landing Park in the Winter
This English Landing Park happens to be one of my favorite parks. Notice how these Winter scenes almost look like black and white photos.
Winter Has Arrived
Even though Fall is my favorite season, I also enjoy Winter tremendously….which might sound odd. The colder weather invigorates me; I enjoy wearing Winter clothes; and I simply love the holidays that come with Winter. Overall, I appreciate the change of seasons. Each season invokes different feelings, emotions, and experiences.
More Fall (Can you tell it's my favorite season?)
Falling for Fall
There is something special about each season in the midwest. I do not like humidity or extremely hot weather and therefore, Fall is my favorite season for both its weather and its colorful beauty.
Colorado!
There are so many places in the world that I would like to see, but before I venture too far away, there is plenty in the United States to satisfy my traveling desires. So far, Colorado is one of my favorite vacation spots! I never get tired of those majestic mountains, crystal clear lakes, or the less humid climate.
Mother and Her Baby
Don’t all of us Mothers love our babies? The bonding between Mommy and her baby starts in the womb and becomes stronger with each bump, roll, and kick. The “magic” of birth can’t be topped when Mother finally gets to meet her baby. Look at the love in this young Mom’s face as she gazes upon her child.
A Family Photo Gig
It’s not always easy to gather a family for a yearly family portrait, especially when the family is grown! It’s also not an easy thing to photograph a family when the family is large. If it’s just a Mom and Dad with their two point five kids, maybe not so challenging. With this beautiful family I had challenges because of its size and the range of ages. Over all, I was pleased.
Christmas Memories
Christmas means different things to different people. It is my favorite season and when I think of Christmas I think of Christmas music, lights, parties, baking, shopping for the perfect gift, and celebrating with family. Please make sure you click on each photo to see the next one! (P.S. The one of my Grandson and me was taken on January 1, 2018.)
