Grandchildren and Lake Michigan

Quinceanera

This was my first Quinceanera. Not only have I never photographed one, I’ve never seen or experienced a Quinceanera in my life. This was a huge opportunity for me for multiple reasons and one that I will never forget.

Hawk

I was lucky enough to spot this hawk in my backyard. It gave me the perfect opportunity to use my new 150-600mm zoom lens. It’s a heavy lens, but I was pretty happy with the result.

The Wild West

My boyfriend, Jim, and I were heading home from our visit to Clovis, New Mexico. Along the way we stopped to take some photos of the scenery we were driving by. This was my favorite one. It reminds me of how our country must have looked before civilization took over.

Home Water Birth

You can possibly imagine how excited I was to be asked to photograph a home birth in a pool of water. Although I’ve seen a live birth before, my first Grandchild, I’ve never seen a baby born in water…let alone photograph it! To say it was a thrilling experience is putting it mildly.

The Missouri River

I happen to live near one of the most quaint towns in Kansas City along the Missouri River. When I was growing up I’d go visit my Grandparents in St. Louis. They happened to live near the Mississippi River and so more than once they would take me to the park that existed along the river in St. Louis. Never did I dream that years later when I was an adult, I would be living near a river. This park and river that I live near, and love in Kansas City, are one of many things that remind me of my Grandparents.

Enjoying the Simple Things In Life

Occasionally I will take my camera outside to my own backyard to photograph something simply because I enjoy photographing. Even though I think I’ve seen every inch and every angle of the yard, I’ll still take a picture anyway. Sometimes the results are just, “ho hum,” while other times it’s a “Wow!”

My Favorite Season

I get to live in the midwest where all four seasons are experienced fully. Each season offers unique gifts to enjoy, but my all time favorite is probably Fall. Not only are the temperatures perfect, usually with low humidity, but the abundance of colors prevails in every direction, whether living in the city or out in the country. My only complaint about Fall is that it doesn’t last long enough!

Colorado With Its Gorgeous Aspens

Usually I travel to Colorado during the summer months, but this year, I wanted to see the golden Aspens and so went in October. Even though I missed the peak season for the Aspens by about one week, there were plenty of golden trees all around for me to enjoy!

Labor Day Weekend 2020

Judging from the number of times I travelled to Lake Michigan and looking at the countless number of photos I took, it would be easy to see how much I love this particular Lake! From the first time my eyes were pleasured with its beauty, I was hooked. The massive size of it, along with its sea green hue and foamy white waves dashing against its shore, continually mesmerizes me every time I visit this Great Lake.

Lake Michigan "Portraits"

I would be remiss if I didn’t post some photos of the loved ones whom I shared these trips with. So, here they are!

Lake Michigan

Have you ever seen Lake Michigan? Have you ever even gotten close to it? Even though there is a lot that I haven’t seen, Lake Michigan is the prettiest lake I’ve ever laid eyes on! Why? For me it’s because of its size and its incredible greenish color. I’ve always loved the ocean. Because of its size, Lake Michigan looks like an ocean…..with a beautiful green tint. If you enjoy being near the water, you’ve got to see it! I made two separate trips to this oasis. So, these photos are from my May 31 trip and my June 14 trip. Enjoy!
